Service Description

In a three-day blacksmithing course with up to three participants, you'll learn to forge, weld, grind, harden, and fit your own Damascus steel knife with your chosen handle. Duration: 3 days, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM each day Schedule: Day 1: After a brief safety briefing and a discussion about the design of your desired knife, we'll begin forging and welding. On the first day, you'll learn how to operate the power hammer and create the Damascus steel layering (up to 99 layers) from your chosen steel, followed by your knife blank. We'll assist you with the design and shaping of your chef's knife, butcher's knife, hunting knife, outdoor knife, or replica/custom-made knife. Day 2: This is followed by shaping and grinding using a belt sander and angle grinder (flex), and then finishing the blade. Day 2: The next day, you'll work on shaping the blade using a belt sander and angle grinder (flex), and then grinding it to a smooth, polished finish. ... You'll work on the belt sander for the side grinding. The second day concludes with hardening in the high-quality hardening oven. Afterward, we temper the blades in the workshop. Day 3: Once you've chosen the handle wood for your custom knife, we begin the fine-tuning. You'll start with coarse sandpaper and work your way up to a very fine grit to achieve a particularly rust-resistant and even surface finish. Next, you'll fit the handle: whether it's a tang or a flat tang, you'll learn the precise fitting, gluing, and sanding techniques on the belt sander, as well as the final hand-sharpening. At the end of the day, you'll oil and wax the handle and can take your finished, razor-sharp custom knife home with you.
